In the July school holidays our focus is TV2 KidsFest (5-18 July), which is coordinated by the CCC Events Production Team on behalf of the KidsFest Charitable Trust. Check out the website for more info: www.kidsfest.co.nz
Thur 3 July: Kids in Town, Christchurch Art Gallery (12-1pm):
Choir and orchestra from Cobham Intermediate & St Andrew's College. Free.
Fri 4 July: Lunchtime Concert, Cathedral Square (12.15-1.15pm):
Rene Vink (contemporary European guitar). Free.
Mon 7 July: The Breeze Balloon Bonanza, Cathdral Square (11am-12.30pm):
Johnny Possum's Goodtime Hootin' Band entertains while kids get balloons for a giant wish-making ceremony. Donations to Ronald McDonald House South Island. Lucky draw to win flight for family of five with Garden City Helicopters.
Wed 9 July: Singapore Airlines StarFest Heats, The Palms Shirley (11am-1.30pm):
Come check out kids and families perform for their chance to go through to the finals at the James Hay Theatre with an amazing prize up for grabs... Free to enter, terms/conds of StarFest entry at www.kidsfest.co.nz

Fri 11 July: Parade of Bands, around Victoria Square (from 1pm):
About 30 brass bands from all over NZ and Australia compete for musical and marching points - great to watch! Free.
Sun 13 July: Dog's Day Out, RDA Equestrian Centre (11am-3pm):
Loads of fun for people and pooches, fun interactive competitions, breeders, displays by working dogs, dog agility... entertainment by Chicago Style Dixie Band, hosted by the brilliant Nick Tansley. Gold coin donation per dog you bring along, proceeds to the RSPCA.
Wed 16 July: Kids Mix Mash Music Bash, Cathedral Square (12.15-1.15pm):
Learn a breakdance routine from the Common Ground breakdancers, who will demonstrate their show, teach and do a short collaboration with the Pandemonium Percussion ensemble - Pandemonium complete the concert by
performing samba, techno, and Junk Jam - all about the crazy rhythmic life of a recycled tin can! (Kids can have a go on some of the drums at the end). Free.
Fri 18 July: Singapore Airlines StarFest Finals, James Hay Theatre (7-9pm):
A hugely action-packed night with a wide variety of great performances by kids and families, competing for the grand prize of a trip for four to Singapore flying Singapore Airlines, staying with Millenium, and entry to attractions courtesy of the Singapore Tourism Board. But that's not all!!! The Funky Monkeys will keep the night on
fire, the What Now Children's Video of the Year Award and the APRA Children's Song of the Year Award will also be announced and presented!
