Its a busy month for our All Ages champion friends over Red Panda with a heap of live shows at WE HQ in Bedford Row...
RED PANDA PRESENTS TEAPARTY with Bearcat from Auckland.
Supported by Valdera, Teke & Craig and The Fulcrum Kid
July 19th 8pm at WE HQ.
Red Panda is highly excited to present Christchurch with the first ever south island show for Bear Cat. Their cute and infectious pop tunes are well worth checking out when they play with Red Panda on the 19th of July at the Red Panda Tea Party. Come and join the Pandas for tea and tasty treats at WE HQ which will be transformed into a fairytale tea party wonderland.
Bear Cat are Dan and Jocee from Auckland. Dan claims he is half panda, half human, and has decided to take it upon himself to write songs about the mysterious creature known only to the ancient Chinese as Bear Cat, along with help from Jocee. Bear Cat were finalists in the 2008 MTV Kickstart competition and have played support for Andrew Bird and Sufjan Stevens-label mate Half-handed Cloud. While Dan has the guitar skills of a four year old coupled with a limited Johnny Cash-getting-way-too-excited set of vocal chords, he proudly claims to have completed book one of the Suzuki method violin course at around age ten, Jocee is teaching him book 1 of piano, and has recently started to cut his own hair without using a mirror. The musical finesse of the group, Jocee Tuck, is an innocent young girl with a voice that makes you want to shout from a mountain. Jocee has previously studied to be a sign language interpreter and can dance like crazy to anything.
Supporting Bear Cat will be Red Panda Favourites, Teke and Craig

And introducing: Valdera and The Fulcrum Kid.
Valdera is many things: A region in Tuscany; an art deco apartment block on Peterborough st; and the solo moniker of James Musgrave, under which he explores the medium of acoustic guitar and voice. Valdera songs
embody the reflection, solitude, and frozen hope of a southern winter, and the joy and fulfilled promise of spring. Summer and autumn... not so much.

The Fulcrum Kid was born not of the womb but of the test tube, a purely intellectual caricature where liquid forms of the Knife, Glen Hansard, Beach House and Liam Finn were subtly added to his metaphysical condition. Now in his adolescence he seeks to play out his poems and musings through the medium of an electric guitar and a synthesizer.

Also Red Panda is very excited to add to the Line up Samuel and Joseph. If you were at indie fest that is Camp A Low Hum 2008, you'll know what a hit Samuel and Joseph were. The duo, both known for their abilities with bands, Black Market Art and Jimmy Zoom and the Beytown Grifters, present their hip hop talents supported by their trusty Casio rapman.

Sand Fly Bay playing with Lachlan Grant, and the Merchants of Flow
WE HQ (1 Bedford Row) on Saturday 5th of July.
Life is no joke, and what you do with it is vital. Sand Fly Bay are into karate in a big way and we feel this makes us better people. Sand Fly Bay believes life is not a game, however it should be played at full pace, full strength, and always with a muesli bar or two in your pocket. They've been together since birth and we are as close as tigers, and they find the best way to express themselves is through brown belt karate, and their music, which means Sand Fly Bay are just one of those great things, Almost as great as gold rimmed socks, but not quite.
