The CPIT Jazz School’s main philosphy is to foster and encourage the development of music performance to high creative and technical standards. Established in the early 90's it has grown to become a major focal point for Jazz and Rock music education in New Zealand.
The CPIT Jazz School offers a Diploma in Jazz with specialisations in Performance and/or Arranging & Composition. Students chosen for the programmes will major in at least one of the following:
Voice
Keyboard
Guitar
Bass
Brass
Woodwind
Percussion
The Diploma in Jazz will cover both traditional and contemporary styles.
The successful completion of Stages 1 and 2 of the Diploma in Jazz represents an exit point from the programme for qualifying students to enter the University of Canterbury Bachelor of Music.
The Diploma in Jazz will immerse you in an environment where musical passions and dedication to improvement are shared. You will receive personalised professional help and advice from experienced teaching staff, committed to seeing you develop and grow as a musician
