AUDITIONS FOR COCA-COLA CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK 2007 25th June 2007

Audition Dates Christchurch - Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 July 2007 Auckland - Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 July 2007 (Call backs are held on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm)
Audition Venues Christchurch - Jazz School, Cnr High & Madras Streets, entrance on High Street Auckland - Epsom Girls’ Grammar School Hall & Foyer, Silver Road entrance, off Gillies Ave, Epsom.
Rehearsal schedule for successful performers - Kids choir and soloists must be available Wednesday & Thursday (approx 4.00pm – 10.30pm) & Friday (10.30am - 10.30pm), during the week leading up to concerts.
In addition the weekly rehearsal day for the kids’ choir will be: Christchurch - Sunday afternoons, from 21 October, plus Thursday afternoons from 1 November.
Auckland - Monday 4.30pm to 6.00pm, from 15 October
Concert Dates Christchurch: Saturday 24 November (Rain date Sunday 25) Auckland: Saturday 8 December (Rain date Sunday 9)
Your audition is for either the Christchurch or the Auckland concert.

Who we are looking for Please select from the following three options and read all the information carefully before applying for an audition.
1) KIDS FOR THE COCA-COLA KIDS CHOIR 2) SINGERS FOR SOLOIST ROLES 3) DANCERS, GROUPS AND OTHER PERFORMERS 1. COCA-COLA KIDS CHOIR Audition details Any child (aged 8 – 13) who is an excellent singer-dancer can audition. Experience in dance and performing in public, is an advantage. You must be confident, reliable, vibrant; a natural mover on stage and a team player. We are looking for 12 kids.

Kids will be auditioned in groups and must prepare these two short songs by heart: Silent Night (Verse 1, in the key of B flat) & Snoopy’s Christmas (Verse 1 & 2, Chorus all in the key of A), plus make up their own choreography or simple moves to Snoopy’s Christmas.
Kids will sing to a backing track provided by us. 2. SINGERS FOR SOLOIST ROLES Audition details You must be 8 to 35 years of age, with performance experience as a lead singer or soloist, plus the elusive “X factor”. We are looking for young, fresh, up & coming stars. You must be at the top of your craft. We are looking for singers with outstanding vocal talent, plus a strong personality and confidence. You must also have the ability to inspire and communicate to your audience, through your performance. We are looking for up to 10 soloists in each city.

We will accept the top 100 applications in each city. Successful soloists will be notified with an audition time slot. Some may not hear back til a week before their audition weekend. Please let us know if you have auditioned before, giving the year and the song you chose.
NB - Kids who want to audition for a solo: You cannot audition for the kid’s choir and a solo. You must choose one or the other.
Soloists may support their application by sending a CD or DVD by 13th July 2007

Guidelines and tips for soloists Song choice: Choose a 2-minute excerpt from the song that you would want to sing at the event if chosen. Consider the nature of the event when selecting your song.
Below is a list of suggestions, which are not listed in order of preference.
Although we are still open to and searching for good songs, any of the numbers listed below would make a good audition song. Dress Code: Come dressed to impress by auditioning in a costume you would wear if chosen.
3. DANCERS, GROUPS AND OTHER PERFORMERS Audition details While we are not formally auditioning bands, dance groups or other specialist performers and entertainers during the audition weekends, if anyone is a member of the above, and feel they have something outstanding to offer the show, please send a press kit (include 1 page list of performance highlights, 1 photo & 1 DVD) to the following address by 13 July 2007:

At this stage we are considering including the following in the shows and would welcome an email - auditions07@bestevents.co.nz - plus material in the post from the following: Marching Team Dynamic award winning dance duo Uni-cyclist Exceptional award winning solo tap dancer Performance group (dance, Circo Arts, other) of up to 8 people who feel they have something unique & dynamic to offer the show.
We may request meeting or seeing a performance from any of the above, on the Saturday or Sunday night, after 6pm, during the two audition weekends. We I will notify these groups a week before the auditions. In terms of rehearsals - dancers, groups and others - May only be req’d the Thursday night and Friday (all day, night) before the concert.
