A Low Hum Descends on ChCh 26th June 2007 - Press Release

THE JD SET in association with C4 and Real Groove present The Double Album release tour of SO SO MODERN & CUT OFF YOUR HANDS! TOURING NEW ZEALAND IN JULY. The Tiger Tones and Not So Experimental are ready to rock the Jetset in support (R18 -10pm) on Saturday July 21st with Bang! Bang! Eche! and Johnny and The Children in support for the All Ages show (R18 -10pm, All Ages - 6pm).
Does it get anymore exciting than this?
Well, I've spent three days agonising over this press release as I just don't know what to say.
Do I mention how both So So Modern and Cut Off Your Hands! just released two killer records, the former with "Friendly Fires" and the latter with the "Blue on Blue EP" (Out July 7th) and they are touring NZ to celebrate?
Do I mention those albums rule? Or had I already?
Do I mention how both bands have spent the bulk of 2007 blowing away audiences across the US, Australia and Europe?
Do I mention how just last week Cut Off Your Hands! had the number one most played song on Australia's legendary Triple J network?
Do I mention how these are actually So So Moderns last shows in New Zealand for 2007 as they leave for Europe in August where they have shows booked for the rest of the year and are releasing their album in the UK as a series of four 7" records on the amazing Transgressive Records (Iron and Wine, Foals, Battle)?
Do I mention how Cut off Your Hands! absolutely killed in the UK and US and received glowing reviews from NME, Drowned in Sound, The BBC and even the hard nosed Pitchfork Media gave the thumbs up.
Do I mention that both bands were featured in Real Grooves May Music Month issue on "Bands that owned the future", and So So Modern graced the cover of said issue?
Do I mention how Cut Off Your Hands! debut EP Shaky Hands is coming out on American Independent label I Am Sound records in October and that the band have just been asked to perform at Airwaves Festival in Iceland and releasing a debut 7 on Fierce Panda in October in the UK and will be on tour over in the UK and Australia for the rest of the year?
So with both bands pretty much spending the rest of 2007 overseas
.Do I mention that if you miss this tour you are going to be ridiculed, pointed out and laughed at for the rest of the year, and possibly well into 2008?
Do I mention that the people at The JD Set, C4, Real Groove and A LOW HUM basically made all this possible?
I don't know. Press release, schmess release. Why am I wasting time on this? I mean I know you're coming anyway. The only question is do you bring a chocolate cake or a tray of cupcakes. I've set up a sweet website that has all the fiddly details of the shows, and I'll be updating it during the tour with photos and video, so check that shiz out at: www.myspace.com/radtours
