HOW TO RELEASE A RECORD INDEPENDENTLY

Yes its that time of year again and hasn't it come around quickly. The October Sessions 2007 will be held on Sunday 28th October at the Winchester Bar on St Benedicts St, Newton. This year the sessions will focus on "How to release a record independently" and will include the following seminars:

* Recording/Reproduction - Recording Demos, Production, Mixing /Mastering, NZ On Air, Duplication, Artwork, Budgeting
* Marketing and Promotion Plans - Timelines, How to write a marketing plan, promotion schedules, Press Releases, media training, Interview Skills, Press Photos, Working with the media
* Distribution and Digital - Distribution Deals, Digital Distributers
* Live Shows & Touring - Planning a tour, tour budgets, logistics, booking shows, Tour Promotion, Support Acts.

Running Order For The Day

10.00am REGISTRATION
        * Registrations for the One-On-One Sessions and the Big Day Out Pitch
        * Registrations will also be taken for those wishing to join the MMF

10.30am DISTRIBUTION, DIGITAL AND OTHER INCOME STREAMS - (OPEN TO PUBLIC)
        * How to secure distribution for your album i.e. retail stores, the internet and telcos.
        * Identifying other streams of income for musicians – ie TV Placement, TV commercials, Movie Syncs etc

10.30am BIG DAY OUT PITCH BEGIN - (MMF MEMBERS ONLY)
        * Registered MMF Members will be given the exclusive opportunity to pitch their bands in a one-on-one meeting with Barry Blackler from the Big Day Out Office. (These will  run all day - Registration for times at 10am.)

11.30am SPEED NETWORKING SESSIONS - (MMF MEMBERS ONLY)
        * Speed networking sessions with panelists

Midday  LUNCH / MMF AGM - LUNCH PROVIDED FOR MMF MEMBERS
 
1.00pm MARKETING/PR/MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS - (FOR MMF MEMBERS ONLY)
        * Intense workshops on how to put together a marketing plan, a promo plan, how to write press releases, media training & Interview Skills, Press Photos and working with the media
