The NZ MMF in association with ((Chart)) is proud to announce that it will be hosting a legal seminar with David McLaughlin from McLaughlin Law on Tuesday 4th September. David specialises in legal issues as they relate to the music industry and acts for a wide range of participants in the music industry both within New Zealand and internationally. David’s clients include Hollie Smith, Nesian Mystik, Adeaze, 4 Corners and Tiki from Salmonella Dub.

David will cover all contracts that a manager and a band needs:

1. Band contracts – the contract between band members. Why this is necessary to have.
2. Management contracts – between the band and their manager.
3. Record company contracts – the different types, what parts of these that are negotiable.
4. Live contracts – the contract between the band and venues. What elements are absolutely necessary.
5. Publishing contracts – the different types, what parts of these that are negotiable.
