The Dux de Lux RounDUp 2007 Is Underway 14th August 2007 - Press Release
The institution that is the Dux de Lux RounDUp, RDU98.5FM’s annual band competition, is once again upon us. As always, perennial supporters, the Dux de Lux, will be hosting the 2007 event, and once again there will be a gamut of goodies up for grabs.
First things first though – the Dux-de-Lux RounDUp 2007 wouldn’t be the most anticipated local band competition without bands, and you can’t win simply by thinking your band’s the best. So now’s the time to register your all-singing, all-dancing act for the 2007 competition.
Apart from the opportunity to share your talents with an adoring audience (that may or may not contain that studio executive spotter who’ll peg you for bigger things), winners of the Dux-de-Lux RounDUp 2007 will be showered with prizes, including CD pressings, a music video, poster printing and placement and more that are being secretly negotiated by RDU as you read.
This year’s winners will also nab themselves the last remaining, and opening slot on the Christchurch Music Industry Stage at Southern Amp 2, which is to be held at AMI Stadium on Saturday the 10th of November. And let’s not forget an equally important aspect of the winnings: each year’s top entrants have their band-name immortalized, for generations to admire, as it is etched on the RounDUp trophy, The Midget Guitar of Glory. (Cue chorus of Angels).
Winners of the 2006 competition, The Tiger Tones, have enjoyed their year as crowned champions, but it is time for them to step aside. It is time for the 2007 winner to take that step forward.
So it’s simple. To show everyone how good you are and be a part of all the kudos and glory associated with this esteemed competition, you must first enter. Go to www.rdu.org.nz and click on the wee RounDUp icon with your mouse, and fill in the entry from online (call the station if this gets too much). Alternatively, you can drop into the RDU98.5FM at 90 Ilam Road (upstairs in the UCSA building) or the Dux to manually register your band – but do it now because applications close on the 2nd of September.
