RDU 98.5 FM and The Mixtape Sessions are proud to announce the arrival of one of the hottest Christchurch music compilations to hit the streets.  this is NOT the Christchurch sound - vol. 1 is a DJ mix CD featuring Tom Cosm, Ed Muzik, Break Mission Kills, Charlie ASH (half the band used to live in CHCH don't ya know), Pig Out, Get Set Play, The L.E.D.s, Tiger Tones, Pylonz of Mercy, 5 1/2 Minutes, and Electro Pussy Posse.

Dr Hitchcock came up with the plan for a Christchurch music compilation in November 2006 when he decided to move to Melbourne and thought it'd be nice to take something from his musical home for the last 4 1/2 years with him. The good doctor came up with the name when he thought about what others thought the "Christchurch sound" would be and decided that the Christchurch music he listened to and partied to every weekend probably didn’t match that label.

"This CD probably won't start a musical revolution, get anyone signed to a major label or save any lives but hopefully someone might have a good boogie, bust a move or have a feeling *tear*! this is NOT the Christchurch sound - vol. 1 is about getting amazing sounds out to Christchurch, New Zealand and the world." says Dr Hitchcock aka Benet Hitchcock, Project Manager. "

RDU 98.5 FM, a strong supporter of high quality Christchurch music for over 30 years caught wind of Dr Hitchcock's project and knew immediately that this was something they wanted to get behind. "We were downwind at the right time, caught a whiff and wanted to back it instantly. Dr H always has his fingers on the pulse and we're all stoked the opportunity to work together on this type of project came before we parted ways." says RDU 98.5 FM Station Director James Meharry.

The Official Release Party for the "this is NOT the Christchurch sound - vol.1" will take place at Double Happy on Saturday 16th June and features live acts from the CD Ed Muzik, Tom Cosm, Get Set Play, the original Mixtape Connection DJs Missy G, Indie Slut, Dr Hitchcock and friends, Tobiaz and Apex Beat.
 
Entry is free for ANZ RDUnited members and $5 for everyone else. There will also be a copy of the CD for the first 200 ANZ RDUnited and on the night ANZ RDUnited gets $5 Jagermeister.

The CD is a promotional release and not for sale. Copies are only available from the Release Party or directly from RDU.
