8th September 2008 - Media Release
Compelling honesty and simplicity underpins Anneka Thwaites debut album ‘In the Pink’ which is being released at Fat Eddies on Saturday 27 September. Opened by Pete Costello with Anneka and her full band, ‘In the Pink’ is the follow-up to ‘Hold On My Heart,’ her first single released nationally last month.
Christchurch based singer-songwriter, Anneka’s music is an eclectic mix that draws on elements of singer songwriter, folk, country and rock, paired with intimate vocals and reflective lyrics.
Backed by a small band of New Zealand's leading musicians, In the Pink announces the arrival of a fresh new artist. It features the excellent musicianship of Harry Harrison (session guitarist to Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga), Richie Pickard on bass (Solaa, Paul McLaney) and Nick Gaffaney on drums (Goldenhorse, Anika Moa).
Selected to play at Southern Amp on 9th November, Anneka is the only female and the sole singer/songwriter to play on the CHART/RDU stage.
For the last ten years, Marlborough born Anneka has been a self-employed furniture maker, allowing her the flexibility to spend time on her music. Her love of all things artistic; from music to woodcarving, painting and her inbuilt need to be creative can be found in her passion for song writing.
Following the In The Pink release at Fat Eddies in Christchurch, thee will also be a Blenheim release in October followed by a South Island tour.
