Introducing... Bang! Bang! Eche!

Artist:
Bang! Bang! Eche!

Who are they?
A five-piece dance-punk band from Christchurch, New Zealand. We've featured the band previously via our 'Best of MySpace' feature here, at which point they had just one song on their profile - an earlier rendition of 'Nikee', complete with lyrical references a certain corporation might sue over. Thankfully they've added a whole new batch of demos since, and they're even better.

What do they sound like?
Perhaps post-dance-punk might be a suitable description. The beats are along the measured, precise lines of Foals, but there's whirring, fitting keyboards around them and yelping vocals
which mean it's less pretentiousness and more fun. Most of B!B!E!'s lyrics mention partying, somewhere. They're the sort of band you'd find ruined by an appearance on the soundtrack to a certain Channel 4 teen drama.

Why are they so great?
Because they sound so now. It's medically impossible to listen to '4 To The Floor' or 'You And Me As Thick As Thieves' and not dance involuntarily. The lyrics are deceptively clever; you're too busy having fun to actually take notice of them, but if you did, you'd realise there's a strange insight in to the world of parties down under. Who knows, they could feature that annoying Aussie brat as the villain of their video? If they had a spare £15k, of course... Oh, and we're not actually able to think of more than two other New Zealand bands, which ultimately makes them a rarity to begin with.

What should I be checking out?
If you're this side of the Equator, then you'll just be looking at the demos on the band's MySpace page, given that all their tour dates are in their home country. However, if you find yourselves in Auckland or Wellington, do report back...
