Soulsystem Release Rise (EP)

Soulsystem are pleased to announce the release of their debut recording, the Rise EP.

Based in Christchurch, Soulsystem have been writing and performing their own original blend of reggae and soul around the South Island since the band’s conception in October 2007. In addition to regular gigs in Christchurch, including supporting slots for artists such as Tahuna Breaks, Opensouls, Sunshine Soundsystem and Taos, they can frequently be found hosting open jams at Bar Beleza, a chilled-out live music venue at 130 Lichfield Street.

The 4-track Rise EP features three of the band’s earliest works, all of which have stood the test of time on stage as the music of Soulsystem has grown and matured, and a fourth track “Light Corrector”, written the night before the recording session, which has gone on to be one of the band’s most successful and popular songs. Tracks from the EP have featured regularly on RDU since March this year, and are now available to own on CD in a 100% recycled cardboard cover, featuring artwork designed and drawn up entirely by the band members.

The Rise EP is available from selected CD stores, and from any of Soulsystem’s live shows and jam sessions. Alternatively drop the guys an email and they’ll sort you out a copy. All proceeds go towards the creation of more original local music.
