The Transistors are one of Christchurch's leading power punk trio's and November sees them releasing their debut album Short Wave.

They have been together for nearly five years in their current incarnation after getting together at Rangiora High School. The band is comprises of drummer/singer Olly Crawford-Ellis, guitarist/singer James Harding and bassist Colin Roxburgh. They play loud fast power pop/punk music with an emphasis on super high energy that is powered by Demon Killa Cola endorsed drumming and loud guitars. They are mainly influenced by 60's garage, 70's power pop and punk and 80's hardcore and alternative rock.

The Transistors try and play as regularly as possible around town and around the country when possible, with the philosophy of playing pretty much any show that’s offered because it’s all good experience. So far Transistors have been lucky enough to tour the country with The Mint Chicks, The Datsuns, Pierced Arrows and more. Last year they recorded their debut album Shortwave with the legendary Bob Frisbee at his studio in Auckland. Shortwave is out on limited edition green Vinyl and will be out on CD any day now.

Videos have been made for the songs Caving In and Real Kids, they were directed by Kody Nielson and Damien Shatford respectively and will be released to coincide with the album.

5 shows in one day...
On Thursday 22nd October the Transistors embarked on a huge day of promotion for their album "Shortwave". They played 5 shows in one day including a Live to Air on Christchurchs RDU radio station and an 'instore' performance on the roof top of Christchurch city's Cosmic Corner store.
