Valentines Night at the Quarry

This Valentine’s Day sees the launch of a national series of ‘concerts for conservation’ in one of Christchurch’s most stunning locations, Halswell Quarry Park.

Featuring our very own kiwi Sinatra, Tim Beveridge, entertainment icon Tina Cross and a 10 piece band, this concert will see the quarry’s natural amphitheatre filled with the sound of music.

Support act for the night is local jazz siren, Naomi Ferguson and her group, the Three of Hearts. They are a talented and engaging five-piece playing a fresh mix of originals and classics influenced by their jazz roots, with a dash of gospel and a big dollop of pop. Their beautiful melodies and harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and groovy beats will get your toes tapping, your mouth smiling and your heart glowing.

As well as providing a fantastic Valentine’s Day treat, the concert will support the Canterbury native wetlands restoration project at Halswell QuarryPark, with a portion of all ticket sales going towards the project.

ARK Tour director Jackie Sanders says, “Around the country dedicated individuals and groups are creating mini ‘arks’…projects endeavouring to save precious habitats or vulnerable species for future generations. ARK is a national series of concerts in some of these unique locations”.

“We aim to raise awareness of the work being done, re-introduce people to our beautiful reserves and we donate part of our proceeds to the chosen local conservation project to assist them further with their work”.

And with the date being that special day for lovers everywhere, this concert enables you to treat your loved one to a unique and memorable experience. Pack a picnic or grab some tasty treats on site, as a range of food options will be available. The concert is strictly no BYO alcohol as Yealands Estate Wines will be available for purchase at the bar along with beers and soft drinks. Plenty of parking will be available in the field off Cashmere Road.
