On September 1st 2008 Christchurch-based instrumental guitarist Craig Payne will possibly set a new world record as the most prolific recording artist in the history of rock music.
His fifth album in exactly one year, “Wanderlust”, will mark the first anniversary of Craig’s world-wide contract with iTunes International which is managed by New Zealand aggregator Digital Rights Management Limited. It is also the first release for Craig Payne Music Limited which has been established to, not only handle all of Craig’s publishing and distribution rights, but to sign and market other artists as well.
The “world-record” claim is being investigated by the Guinness Book of World-Records in London and a contract has already been signed in the event that this is indeed a “broken record”… The outcome should be known in about six weeks.
Essentially Craig has written and produced four original guitar albums and recorded the “Beautiful Night – Craig plays McCartney” album, which was published on iTunes by Sir Paul’s company MPL, all in the same year. The title track for the new album, Wanderlust, was also written by Paul McCartney and is accompanied by 12 new original guitar instrumentals.
The most recent achievement for Craig as a writer has been signing with Barry Coffing’s organisation, Music Supervisor, who are a Los Angeles based music licensing company specializing in supplying theme music to the TV and Movie industry world-wide.
Samples of all five albums can be found at www.craigpaynemusic.com which also has a weekly featured track from one of the albums playing on the home page.
