Garage
Collective is a home-grown NZ design and screen-print initiative,
started by Jared Davidson in order to liberate you from the flat,
mass-produced crap that is digital posters... My main aim is to echo
such vibrant poster scenes abroad, and bring screenprinted poster
designs to the forefront of the New Zealand music, art and cultural
space. It is also a convenient way for me to avoid the 'design
industry'— to create something outside of the realm of advertising, and
to fill the gap that is screenprinting within the NZ independent music
scene.
Garage Collective has screen-printed the last few Tour
posters for A Low Hum — I've also been lucky enough to design and
screenprint for a number of local acts, as well as international ones,
including The Evens (Ian Mackaye of Fugazi) from Washinton DC and Wilco
(USA). Printing for Camp A Low Hum was great, as well as designing for
the Los Angeles venue 'The Knitting Factory' (USA). Check out the
Garage in the June issue of Real Groove Magazine, and The National Grid
#3!
