The Christchurch 50’s Up Brass presents its annual Senior Citizens Variety Concert with special guest Suzanne Prentice. The theme of the concert will be music from the 1940’s to the 1970’s.

Don’t forget to get your tickets today for the 14th annual 50’s Up Brass Band variety concert being held on 20th October in the Christchurch Town Hall Auditorium at 2pm.

The Band’s afternoon concert will also feature, nationally acclaimed country and western singer Suzanne Prentice, as guest artist, and Rob Cope-Williams as celebrity compare.

Concert Secretary, John Nimmo, said that it was is a very popular event for Canterbury seniors and the music programme, this year, is designed to appeal also to younger age groups, who remember and enjoy the music of the 1940’s through 1970’s era.

This year, in conjunction with the Heritage Week theme of, “The 1940’s to the 1970’s”, we have  have produced a concert programme which will have wide appeal. There will be something for everyone. If you would enjoy the sound of more than 50 brass bandsmen and bandswomen, playing music from your more youthful years and Suzanne Prentice, backed by a group of professional musicians, singing a plethora of well loved songs, from the same era, this two   hour action-packed concert is for you.”

The ‘50s Up Brass Band’ has been playing music together for 16 years. Its members enjoy providing entertainment for many retirement homes and senior citizens clubs within the city, as well as regional concerts throughout the Canterbury Province. Its annual charity concert, supporting Arthritis New Zealand, is the band’s highlight of the year. Tickets, at $20.00 ($19.00 plus $1 transaction fee) are now on sale and available through the Town Hall booking Office or through Ticketek outlets.
