60 eager engineers, producers and diehard drum'nbass fans filled The Shed at Vision College on 1 Aug to hear Sam and Devin from ex-ChCh d'n'b pioneers Shapeshifter spill their studio and live sound secrets. ((Chart)) in association with Vision College are proud to present a workshop with top NZ group Shapeshifter. Producers, engineers, managers, artists or as music fans this is your chance as to meet two key members of this pioneering ex-Christchurch Drum’n’Bass act.
You will have the opportunity to benefit first hand from the renowned band's experience in many styles of music performance, composition, production, engineering and computer software skills. Each workshop will also provide a valuable insight into the business of music.
Workshop Format
Producers Sam Trevethick and Devin Abrams will share their experiences in an intimate informal workshop. Topics covered include:
• Music composition, arranging and production
• Live performance
• Band/group mechanics and dynamics
• Sound engineering and recording
• Band management and promotion
The workshop will involve a songwriting demonstration followed by a presentation about their experience as professional musicians with Shapeshifter and the many other projects with which they have been involved.
Sam will then focus on the studio environment and technical processes used in modern music production with a group of attendees while and Devin will discuss music performance and composition with the rest of the group. Both will break down the processes of live performance and studio recording giving attendees an understanding of the methods and techniques used in today's professional music environment.

Upcoming Tour
Shapeshifter will release their fourth album 'Shapeshifter Live' on 20 August with tracks from last year's Christchurch show with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. This was part of the extremely popular sold out orchestra tour in September 2006. Following this national tour, Shapeshifter will be performing at the Parklife Festival throughout Australia and then heading over to Europe. Tickets go on sale from Monday 23rd July 2007.
