Kiwi Singer Songwriter Ralph Bennett-Eades is taking on the chills of winter and venturing south on a short tour of rediscovery. Why, you may well ask, because, came the reply, he has a couple of new C.D's he's proud of and a new guitar he loves to play, besides "they don't do cold so well here in Motueka, but they know how to do cold down south" So it's off to share some music with the warm folk in the South.

Ralph has travelled New Zealand extensively as a Singer, Songwriter and Blues Guitarist. He has entertained in the tiniest venues and the biggest festivals for nearly 30 years and regularly records and releases C.D's of his latest adventures. He writes what he refers to as RoadSongs a bunch of them, "Heaps a Creeks","Talkin'bout the West Coast","Aoraki","Arthur's Pass"and others from his Gypsy Fair days were put together on his last C.D. "The Southern Journey".

Ralph's international music career took off as it were, playing his guitar in Sydney, Singapore and Bangkok Airports with a one off performance at the Bhudda Bar in Downtown Kathmandu. "The most inspiring musical adventure was playing Slide Guitar accompaniment to a thunderstorm rolling over the Himilayas from the bathroom of our funky rooftop appartment.
I didn't conquer Everest but I returned to an equally beautiful country
with new vision".

His latest C.D's are live and acoustic.

"Rediscover" is collection of his own songs, some like "My Louise","Swamp Logic" and "32 Blues" come from the 80's and his "Fat'n'Sassy" band days, some like "Soldier's Purse" and "Skippin'Down the Street" are new. All were performed live for a seated audience of 200 people, just his voice and one of three Guitars; the "Stella"(a mail order guitar from Chicago),
the Martin, or "Russ"(a beautiful Hand Crafted Resonator guitar made in Nelson by Mattsen Guitars). Ralph has been known to bring on guests for different songs in concert, this time his wife Heather sang, Motueka guitarist Dave Connock played and Paul Denny was on the Blues Harp.

"acoustic blues" is a collection of old school blues, pre 1935, that's Charley Patton, Son House, Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Tommy Johnson, Bessie Smith, LeadBelly and Blind Willie Johnson songs performed by Ralph and Paul. Voice, Guitar and Blues Harp.

Ralph will be performing songs from these C.D's and anything that takes his fancy in his upcoming show which promises to be an exciting evening of Road Songs, Blues and Serious Fun.
