Christchurch Canterbury region has today been announced as the location for the third annual MTV Snow Jam. This year’s main event will take place from 3pm Saturday August 16 at world class luxury resort, Terrace Downs, set to be transformed into a one day free music festival featuring back to back performances from local and international acts. Christchurch born and bred Opshop join Cut Off Your Hands, The Grates and The Potbelleez, as the first artists to join the bill with more acts to be announced. For those who can’t make it to the concert, MTV will capture the event for an MTV Snow Jam Special that will air on MTV NZ on September 6.

"Snow Jam is a perfect blend of everything we love here at MTV NZ; spectacular landscape, live local and international music and a party atmosphere!" comments Chris Keely, General Manager of MTV NZ. MTV Snow Jam is the only event of its kind held in New Zealand with local production crews filming a range of content for the Snow Jam special.

Following the huge success of last year’s Snow Jam, this year promises to deliver even more for the local community, with the ‘made for television’ broadcast of the event set to air in up to 27 countries including the UK, Korea and Italy. Local business owners are set to benefit most from the event, with thousands of people expected to fly in from all over the country.

Venue owner Jonathan Hendriksen says, "Terrace Downs is extremely excited to have been selected to host this years MTV Snow Jam event. Besides wanting to get the message out that we are now more than just a golf resort and well on the way to becoming New Zealand’s leading year-round destination resort, we are very keen to promote our unique venue for large national and international events.
