Event Summary
A full house in the Tavern Bar at the Dux of Christchurch music managers and those interested in management turned out to pitch their band to Big Day Out booking agent Barry Blackler, hear Neil Cox run through an intl marketing plan for Bang! Bang! Eche! and hear Peter Jenner discuss his management experiences with Pink Floyd, The Clash and Billy Bragg.

Peter outlined his vision of the future of the music industry, a model that charged broadband subscribers through the telco's for access to downloading music, film and other copyrighted content. File-sharing services woulkd have to be registered and report downloads so royalties could be administered and paid to copyright holders through APRA and PPNZ. This would need to be enforced by government and represents an attractive concept for the cash poor / time rich music consumer. He also talked about having added value services making music easy to find and access for time poor / cash rich people. Interesting stuff...

Big thanks to the NZ Music Commission and NZ Music Managers Forum.
