NZ Pipe Band Championships 2009

The New Zealand Pipe Band Championships are being held on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 March, with almost 50 bands from throughout NZ and Australia.

At Canterbury Agricultural Park on Friday 6th, bands from 3 grades will present their finest music commencing at 9:00am, in a total of 100 performances. This includes the Staff Flourishing elimination competition by 8 of the countries top Drum Majors

Saturday morning (9:00am to 11:30am) will see the bands parade in the popular Street March competition from Cambridge Tce, along Colombo Street, and right into Armagh Street, flanking Victoria Square.

NZ’s top Grade 1 bands will compete for ultimate honours at Canterbury Agricultural Park from 12:30pm, and will be followed by Highland Dancing, Staff Flourishing finals, Marching Displays, and the Massed Bands, including over 1000 pipers and drummers.

Entrance to the park off Wigram Road only. Adults $10, Students $5, Family (2x2) $25.
