New Zealand Post's National Schools Poetry Awards have this year
been expanded to include two prize categories, Best Poem and Best
Lyric, the latter to be judged by Phoenix Foundation's lead singer, Samuel Flynn Scott and former Split Enz member, now Play It Strange CEO Mike Chunn.

Scott will adapt the winning lyric into a song which Loop Media will
record and release accompanied by a music video for television. The
winner of the Best Lyric category will also receive a $500 cash prize
and the opportunity to spend time in a professional recording studio
with the artist and engineer.
The Awards are open to Year 12 and 13 students and entry forms can be downloaded from www.nzpost.co.nz/poetryawards. The deadline is June 3 2008.
