The Klap and Insomniac win RoundUp and Decknology 2008! (+Pics)

Two competitions, the Dux's 30th birthday, a Shane Cameron fight and a Warriors league game - no matter what you are into there was something for you on Saturday night at the Dux de Lux.

Urban cowboys The Klap took home the Midget guitar Of Glory as the Dux RoundUp Champions for 2008 with their intense live performance of alt-country polka genre-bending drinking music. Trumpets, one string slide guitars, accordians, banjo's and earthy vocals drew a huge crowd response and ultimately the judges votes.

Narrowly missing out were new wavers The Tiny Paper Daggers who performed as a front row of 4 (Bang Bang Eche 2007 styles) fusing electro drumbeats with guitars, bass, spacey Radiohead-like keyboards with Oliver Sewell's strong UK 90's pop vocal style over the top, definitely ones to watch.

the klap roundup 2008 winners dux rdu 3rd place went to indie rockers Denmark Street, who guitarist frontman Lukas Thielmann enthralled the crowd with his Hendrix-style licks. The duo Sexy Animals won 4th place with David Mulcahy's crazy sex-fuelled grooves, complimented by lead singer/stripper Mark Banfield dressed in a tight black halter neck lycra number, ladder firmly tucked under the arm, microphone in the other. 5th place went to the coy indie popsters Jimmy Zoom and the Beytown Grifters who were unlucky to have their finalist torch extinguished first.

In the Dux's Brew Bar Insomniac took out the Decknology DJ title, with Willy's mixing work on display via live tv feed and fat beats bring the house down.
